We packed up and headed out of Campland on the Bay in San Diego, California on day 312 of the Nowhere To Be Project after a four night stay. The park straddles the water and is cooled by a constant sea breeze. We were just one spot from the water’s edge in space number L02 which ran just shy of $80 per night.
The layout of the guard-gated resort stacks guests end to end, making for very tight quarters. With that being said though, there are many public areas in which to spread out. There is a gym, a pool, an amphitheater (doubles as a yoga lawn), a skate park, a market, a cantina, a marina and a large laundry facility. The aging shower houses are also plentiful in this vast and bustling park.
All in all, we enjoyed our stay at Campland. The resort could be a bit tidier and the WIFI is basically useless, but its proximity to the beaches and action of San Diego make it a good choice for those who are looking to explore the area. By our standards, Campland On the Bay earns three out of five hearts.
